About Brentwood Park Kindergarten
Brentwood Park Kindergarten has been part of the Croydon community for more than 55 years.
We are a welcoming, community-focused kindergarten where children, families and educators work together to create a supportive and engaging place to learn and grow.
We are proud to have achieved the rating of “Exceeding National Standards” in all 7 areas of the National Quality Framework, a great recognition of the quality of our Educators and Kinder program.
Our Philosophy
Brentwood Park Kindergarten values the partnerships formed between children, families and the wider community. We are committed to building meaningful relationships with children, respecting and celebrating cultural diversity, providing rich learning opportunities, and engaging in ongoing reflective practice.
Our centre philosophy outlines the values and practices that guide our work and support these commitments.
Our Values and Practices
-
Relationships with Children
We believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard and valued. Our educators support children to develop confidence and positive self-esteem by recognising their individual strengths and abilities. We respect the dignity and rights of every child and encourage independence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.
-
Collaborative Partnerships
Strong partnerships between children, families and educators are at the heart of our kindergarten community. We value open communication and collaboration, recognising that children’s curiosity, families’ perspectives and educators’ knowledge all contribute to meaningful learning.
-
Educational Program & Practice
Our program is guided by each child’s interests, culture, abilities and ideas. We believe children are capable learners and provide opportunities for exploration, creativity and discovery through play-based learning.
-
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Children’s wellbeing is central to everything we do. We provide a safe, caring environment where children feel supported and secure. Healthy eating, physical activity and strong hygiene practices are encouraged every day.
-
Learning Environment
Our indoor and outdoor environments support curiosity, creativity and independence. The spaces evolve with children’s interests and encourage respect for the natural environment and sustainable practices.
-
Professional Leadership
Our educators are committed to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice. Guided by the professional Code of Ethics, we continually review and strengthen our teaching practices.
Connection to Country
We proudly acknowledge the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we play and learn. We are committed to honouring Indigenous culture by embedding respect for the land, storytelling, and local traditions into our daily rhythm.
Our Environment
Situated on the picturesque edge of Brentwood Park, our kindergarten provides a vibrant natural setting where indoor and outdoor spaces flow together. We view our spacious playground not just as a place for physical play, but as a vital classroom where children develop competence and independence.
Our environments are designed to spark curiosity and adapt to children’s changing interests. From imaginative play in our dinosaur and enchanted gardens to quieter moments of sensory discovery and reading, there is a space for every child to explore. Whether they are gardening, constructing, or enjoying the sandpit, children build a deep respect for nature and the confidence to lead their own learning adventures.
Governance and Participation
The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We provide a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
